Parent-Child: 6mos-2years old  This class is typically for children who are at least 6 months old to 2 years old.  If you feel your 3 year old+ has a strong reason to be in the water with a parent, please contact us.

We believe in instructing the parents as well as the children.
Parents will learn skills to encourage their child's safe exploration in the water, which includes the proper ways to hold the child to encourage the maximum swimming exploration, safe water entry & exit, and activities to have your child get water safety, coordination and strength.
Students will learn the basic movements of swimming, water exploration, safe water entry, pool rules, breathe control, floating, control of rotation in the water, basic motions of the arms & legs, simple ways to propel oneself, and simple underwater skills.

Every student should have at least one adult participating with them. If you have twins and only one adult available to participate, please call us for some suggestions.

In accordance with the philosophy of the swim school the primary skills listed above are not the only focus. Other topics will depend on the goals of the participants and where the students are on any given day.

Swim Team Preparation: 4-12 years old  This class is for children who are aspiring to be on the swim team or have been on swim team, but feel they need a little preparation in either endurance and/or stroke technique.  The goal is to give the swimmers extra confidence, endurance, and know how when it comes to competing.  Students in this course should already know the basics of 3 of the competitive strokes and be able to swim the length of the pool several times in a 45-minute period.

Students will focus on three aspects: 1. Endurance, 2. Technique, and 3. Swim team terminology & process.  Our instructors in this course will spend part of the time in the water with students and part observing & instructing from pool deck.  Each class will be a combination of workout and specific instruction.  As part of the work out students will learn the terminology that a swim coach would use in practice and swimming etiquette, which includes sharing a lane with other swimmers.  Techniques covered could include fine tuning rotary breathing, the underwater motions of the strokes, coordination, timing, flip turns, underwater pullouts, using backstroke flags, among many others.  What is needed will be determined by the goals and current skill level of the swimmers participating.
