We are hiring swim instructors to work with people who have special needs for our upcoming sessions who have experience working with people who have special needs. Candidates must be knowledgeable, dedicated, mature, open to collaboration, enthusiastic, have reliable transportation, and love working with people. We have a very strong adaptive aquatics program. Job Description: Atlantis' swim instructors spend most of their time directly working with students in small group and individual lessons. Students can range in age from 6 months old to adults and range in ability and skill level. Instructors hired for this position could work with typically developing students as well those who have special needs. There is a small amount of administrative work with this job including keeping attendance records, communicating with our administrative staff, and communicating with parents on a regular basis. Instructors will go through a period of paid training before teaching their classes independently.
Locations: We currently serve 4 indoor locations in the Triangle area and over 75 outdoor neighborhood locations throughout the Triangle. INDOOR LOCATIONS: Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary Gold's Gym in RTP Gold's Gym at Celebration Station in Raleigh Healthtrax in Raleigh
Hours: 1-10 hours/week around your schedule special consideration given to candidates with late afternoon, evening & Saturday availability
Experience and skills: Required: ~CPR & First Aid certification (can be obtained upon employment) ~knowledge of the competitive strokes ~previous experience teaching children with special needs ~a strong desire to work with people who have special needs ~ability to work independently ~excellent problem solving skills ~excellent organizational skills ~excellent communication skills ~a basic understanding of navigating the web and email ~reliable transportation
Preferred: ~competitive swimming background
Special Consideration Given To Candidates with: ~experience teaching infants, a variety of children with special needs, or adults ~late afternoon, evening, or Saturday availability ~a degree that relates to working with special populations
