
Skill Levels & Class Descriptions When making a schedule request or registering for a class, you will select the skill level that is appropriate for you/your child. If you have any questions about what level or class type is right for you, please contact us.
A Note about Private Lessons:
Private lessons are tailored to meet the needs of the student(s) in the class, so it is not necessary to specify a skill level when requesting or registering for one of those. They can also have one or multiple students. In the case of semi-private lessons, one customer login should be used to register the multiple students in a private class.
Group Lessons:
Below is a list of the different group level classes we offer. Please note that not all classes are offered in every session since we create the schedule based on the input we receive from customers in their schedule requests.

Adult & Teen Beginning
Children's Beginning 1 This class is for children who have no experience in the water or have some experience but are unable to float unassisted. Students will learn how to float unassisted and the basics of rhythmic breathing. The minimum number of students required to form the group is 3 . The maximum number allowed is 4.
In accordance with the philosophy of the swim school the primary focus listed is not the only focus. Other topics will depend on the goals of the students and where the students are on any given day. Children's Beginning 1/Beginning 2 The Children's Beginning 1 and Beginning 2 classes have been combined in order to meet the minimum # of student required for a group, which is 3. The maximum number is 4. If we receive enough demand, we may split this class into 2 classes. The instructor is very good at working with a class that has varying skill levels. Below is a desription of both the Beginning 1 and Beginning 2 classes.

Parent-Child This class is for children who are at least 6 months old and who still need to be with a parent in the water. Typically by the age of 3 most students are ready to begin instruction without the aid of a parent. If you are unsure whether your 3 year old+ should be in a parent-child class, please call.
We believe in instructing the parents as well as the children. Parents will learn skills to encourage their child's safe exploration in the water. Students will learn the basic preskills of swimming.
Every student should have at least one adult participating with them. If you have twins and only one adult available to participate, feel free to give us a call for some suggestions.

Children's Beginning 2/Intermediate This class combines students at the beginner 2 level and the intermediate level. Adult & Teen Intermediate This class is for adults and teens who are not afraid of the water and already have some basic water skills such as floating and blowing bubbles. Students should be able to swim a short distance using one of the competitive strokes, such as freestyle or backstroke. Students will learn rotary breathing for the freestyle stroke. Other topics will be determined based on the goals and interests of the students. The minimum number of students required to form the group is 3 . The maximum number allowed is 5. Children's Intermediate This class is for children who are beginning to learn the freestyle and backstroke and who are comfortable being in the deep water either assisted or unassisted. Students will learn the basics of backstroke and freestyle, including rotary breathing.

Intermediate: This class is for children who are beginning to learn the freestyle and backstroke and who are comfortable being in the deep water either assisted or unassisted. Students will learn the basics of freestyle and backstroke.
Advanced: This class is for children who have a good understanding of the front and back crawl and either want a little fine tuning or want to learn other strokes and skills. Topics will be determined based on the goals of the students, but may include learning breaststroke and butterfly. Spring Ahead - Swim Team Preparation (30 mins) This is the 30 minute Swim Team Clinic Adult & Teen Advanced This class is for adults and teens who already know the freestyle (including rotary breathing) and one other competitive stroke and can swim the length of the pool comfortably. Students will focus on fine tuning their techniques and learning new techniques based on their interests. Some possible topics include breastroke, butterfly, turns, and training tips, and racing strategies. The minimum number of students required to form the group is 3 . The maximum number allowed is 6. Adult Advanced/Triathalon Prep This course is designed for aspiring or currently competing triathletes. The goal is to give the athlete the skills to become the most effective and efficient swimmers they can be. True to the Atlantis philosophy the exact curriculum each time the course is taught will be determined through input from swimmers. Topics typically covered include refinement of the freestyle stroke, refinement of breastroke or backstroke as a cross-training stroke, fast and efficient turns, basics for creating a swimming workout, and survival swimming for open water. Each class will be a blend of workouts designed to help build endurance as well as individually tailored instruction that will help swimmers improve their technique. Cancelled
Children's Advanced This class is for children who have a good understanding of the front and back crawl and either want a little fine tuning or want to learn other strokes and skills. Topics will be determined based on the goals of the students. Typical topics that may be covered include breaststroke, butterfly, starts, turns, and endurance. The minimum number of students required to form the group is 3 . The maximum number allowed is 5. Spring Ahead - Swim Team Preparation This course is designed for kids 12 and under who aspire to be or who are currently on a swim team. The goal is to give the swimmers extra confidence, endurance, and know how when it comes to competing. True to the Atlantis philosophy the exact curriculum each time the course is taught will be determined through input from swimmers and their parents. Topics typically covered include refinement of all 4 strokes, starts, turns, swim team lingo, swimming etiquette, and strategies for swimming faster. Each class will be a blend of workouts designed to help build endurance and individually tailored instruction that will help swimmers improve their technique. The maximum number of students allowed in each class is 6, and each class lasts one hour. Spring Ahead - Triathlon Preparation This course is designed for aspiring or currently competing triathletes.
